The Academy Volleyball Club

Horrible Parking. $20 to get in all weekend and you should get here about 1-2 hours to find a spot. Then there is ZERO HVAC in this building, snow is falling thru the garage door onto us at court 13……very little bathrooms for about 10k people. I can imagine a Stan Kroenke type man is running this place. Also very little area to sit and rest or work in between matches. I think with a plan, they could really figure out logistics with this place with the entry fee money collected. There also is no Wi-Fi and you will not get cell phone service in the building - not sure if it’s from the metal building, too many people or a combination of the both.

Wrapped up Summer camp and everything was great up until today, which happened to be the last day of skills camp. One of the coaches OBVIOUSLY did NOT want to be there today and it showed. She lazily tossed balls at the “junior spikers” and yelled at them when they didn’t get it right. No constructive explanations of how to fix form or anything. Wished my kiddo was with the main coach as he was patient and took the time to correct and actually coach. You know it’s bad when what appeared to be the head coach, had to tell her he seen it all over her face. Then, to top it off, she had another young girl “coach” come join her to help scrimmages, only for that girl to have an attitude and yell at the kids when they didn’t know what to do—due to their lack of coaching. If you didn’t want to be there, at least do the kids and parents the courtesy of calling in sick. Yikes. Coach Bryan was great. Recommend Chloe (I think that’s what her name tag was) find something else to do for or the summer than ruin the last day of kids summer volleyball camp. Overall: my little one enjoyed every other day.

Huge place. 20+ courts. The concession stand was not over priced and had a great selection. Staff was polite and courteous. Not sure if this standard for every event, but admission is required to be paid in advance online. Parking is everywhere, but everyone wants to park as close to the door as they can get. Pay attention to the signs that say NO Parking. There were 3 wreckers hooking vehicles up. This is in no way the Academy’s responsibility to make sure people don’t park like ding a lings. It’s good entertainment to watch between matches.
